About Me--Liz James

I was born just too soon to be a millenial, but well too late to be a boomer--I call myself a "MilleniAlmost".  As the product of a computer-programmer dad and a systems-theory psychology studying mom, my passion is not the technology itself, but how it integrates with life.  As a Ministerial Student ("MinisteriAlmost") I am excited about making meaning out of the events of our lives and the culture we find ourselves in.

I have four boys and one spouse, and live in Canada where I study, parent, write, play Lego, and trapeze when it's warm enough.

Why Lego?

People will say “I can’t paint” or “I can’t sing”.  Nobody says “I can’t play Lego”.  Theology should be like that.  Sometimes, spiritual stuff can take on the tone of a great piece of Art--to be revered and preserved.  I believe the heart of it should be less "Sistine Chapel" and more "Lego".  In Lego, the pulse of the art form rests not with the most brilliant, but with the kid who shouts “hey, cool!” and dives in.

So, dive in!  Check out Current Build for my most recent blog posts, or have a look at the creations of friends at A Friends' House.  Or start a discussion and join in the play yourself, on The Living Room Rug.
